Maybe they are playing the rousing saxophone solo in Rachmaninov’s symphonic dances or blowing the audience away as part of a rock outfit. Whichever setting or style you imagined, you were almost definitely not off base. The saxophone is one of the most genre diverse instruments; frequently heard in classical, rock, jazz, big band, and blues.
