Piano Lessons
Pianos and piano-like instruments have been instruments of choice for both composers and musicians alike for centuries and there are good reasons for this. A piano will enable its player to play baselines, harmonies and melodies all at the same time. Knowing how to play piano is like having the power of an orchestra at one’s fingertips...
Whether you are taking piano lessons with a view towards upgrading your RCM level or looking to learn piano for fun, we can guide you at every step of the way. Our Mississauga and Etobicoke music schools are designed to adapt to your needs and goals...
Guitar Lessons
Acoustic guitar, Electric, Bass guitar,
Mandolin, Ukulele lessons
The guitar is one of the most popular instruments of our time!
Why resign yourself to just listen up your favorite instrument when you could learn to play it yourself by taking guitar lessons?
If your child secretly a little rock god,
CA MUSIC patient and understanding guitar teacher will ensure that your child lives up to their fullest potential and has a blast while doing so!
*If you do not have a guitar ready for your first guitar lesson, we can provide you with one.
Woodwind Lessons
Saxophone, Clarinet, Pan Flute.
Saxophone lessons
Close your eyes and picture a saxophone player. What kind of music are they playing? Whichever setting or style you imagined, you were almost definitely not off base. The saxophone is one of the most genre diverse instruments; frequently heard in classical, rock, jazz, big band, blues and pop music.
CA Academy of Music saxophone lessons in Mississauga and Etobicoke are designed to cater to any and all of your stylistic preferences.
Clarinet lessons
The clarinet is a family of woodwind instruments. The clarinet has proved to be an exceptionally flexible instrument, used in the classical repertoire as in concert bands, military bands, marching bands, klezmer, jazz, and other styles. The clarinet is widely used as a solo instrument. There is a family of many differently pitched clarinet types, some of which are very rare.
We pleased to offer Professional clarinet lessons in Mississauga and Etobicoke.
CA Academy of MUSIC offers clarinet lessons for fun, preparation for RCM exams, festivals and competitions.
Pan Flute lessons
There are many benefits to learning to play a Pan-Flute! It is a woodwind instrument with a beautiful traditional and relaxing sound. Flautists need to have excellent breath control. And with deeper breathing comes stress relief, better flow of oxygen to the brain and a sense of harmony and wellbeing.
If you are interested by playing folk music (South American music, Chinese music, Greek, Romanian, Ukrainian and etc.) the Pan-Flute is the best musical instrument for you! You also can play a lot of pop, classical, religion music. We tailor our Pan-Flute classes to your musical interests, whether you are into classical, pop, jazz, religious, folk, etc.
Brass lessons
Trombone, Trumpet, French Horn, Tuba.
You may think that brass players are limited to two main genres – classical and jazz. Even if that were true, it would be unfair to call brass players limited. Within classical and jazz, trumpeters can look forward to playing Hayden’s Trumpet Concerto, or any number of Louis Armstrong’s works. Trombonists can look forward to taking center stage when playing famous pieces like Mozart’s Requiem, and Getting Sentimental Over Your by Bassman and Washington. However, brass players are not limited to playing only classical and jazz. Trumpets and trombones are also used in film music, military bands, Latin music, and in popular music.
Theory of Music Lessons & Ear Training
Arpeggios, modulation, transposition, modes of the mixolydian, lydian and locrian variety… Underneath the art of music lies a science called musical theory. In order to become a well-rounded and properly educated musician (or to properly educate other budding musicians) one must study musical theory. As a musician, studying musical theory can improve your improvisational and compositional technique, as well as your sense of rhythm, harmony, tone, and mood...
CA theory lessons curriculum is designed to cover all of the theory requirements of the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) program...
Conducting lessons
A musical program at the CA Academy of MUSIC can help your child to develop or improve their confidence and character, while also exhibiting growth in skills such as:
academic study, logical thinking, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, public speaking.
Music Lessons for Children
Our School of Music CA Academy of MUSIC in Mississauga offers music lessons in Mississauga for children from the age of four. We have different programs depending on the needs and abilities of each individual student. We firmly believe that everyone has musical abilities that can be developed with a little effort. Music lessons develop memory, coordination, discipline and self-confidence. It is a fact that children who are involved in music and play a musical instrument tend to do better in school. Music lessons are also a lot of fun and can bring a lot of joy to a student and their family.
Our students have an opportunity to participate in recitals during the school year and are well prepared for their RCM examinations and their pursuit of post-secondary education in music. We aim to develop our students’ confidence through live performances in front of an audience, thus setting them up for success in their examinations and future auditions. When it comes to preparing students for the demands of live performances, we focus on replacing their initial fearful reaction with excitement.
Music Lessons for Adults
Our School of Music CA Academy of Music in Mississauga has experience with teaching students from many different backgrounds, styles, needs, and goals. Adult students come to us with varying levels of experience – from those who have been playing music since childhood to those who have never played a note! Whether you’re a beginner who requires a “from scratch” approach or a seasoned amateur musician in need of a tune up or somewhere in between, we have the know how and educational background to teach to your level and needs. You will also have the opportunity to practice playing in front of an audience at our recitals.
When you take music lessons with CA Academy of Music, you’ll find that we provide a pleasant and non-judgemental environment that is tailored to your own goals. Taking music lessons as an adult means that you as the participant should have control over your own learning experience. With us you can control the genre/style/era of music that you would like to focus on, the songs or pieces you would like to learn, the specific skills you would like to work on developing, and the pace at which you would like to progress.
Unlike our students who are still in elementary or high school, adult music students often have extremely busy schedules as post secondary students, professionals, workers, business owners, or homemakers. We acknowledge that you may have less time with which to practice than our younger students. For this reason, one of our main goals when teaching adults is to provide you with guidance as to how to make the most out of the practice time that your busy schedule allows. Knowing how to practice efficiently and effectively is extremely important for every learner and we strive to ensure that you are equipped to practice well.
Music Lessons for Seniors
With retirement comes the freedom to use one’s time to engage in the sorts of activities that you have always wanted. Music lessons can be a wonderful way to enliven your golden years! Playing music is an extremely fruitful hobby because of its capacity to add so much to many aspects of our lives. While taking music lessons is alone a stimulating and pleasant experience, learning to play music can also lead one to make new friends by joining a musical group or band, take part in the musical education and interests of one’s children and grandchildren and have a new way to remember one’s favourite songs and pieces of music. Making and playing music is an inherently social activity and it can be a fantastic way to develop old relationships and forge new ones.
These days it has been made clear that the brain is a muscle that must be exercised just like our biceps and triceps! The way to exercise our brains is to challenge ourselves mentally with new and exciting activities and pastimes. One popular way to do this is to solve puzzles like sudoku or crosswords. These can be stimulating, but they lack clear tangible results and there is generally no useful skill that one masters in playing these sorts of games. On the other hand, learning an instrument provides the same results gained from other mental exercises while also giving one new and exciting abilities that can have a real positive impact on one’s life. Learning an instrument, or building on the musical skills one already possesses, gives one the sense that they are discovering a completely new side of themselves and their talents. Exercise has never been so enjoyable!

Svetlana is the best piano teacher I have had over the years since starting piano lessons. She is very patient, versatile, adjusting her teaching style to the learning curve of each student, motivating you to reach your full potential. When it is time to add life to a musical piece, Svetlana paints a vivid picture, giving you the opportunity to better understand the music, play it and enjoy it. I enjoy the piano classes because they are balanced in terms of theory content, scales and playing techniques. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher!
Ana Dolghiu, piano student.

Andrei is an amazing piano teacher! My son has been receiving private lessons from him for nearly 2 years now and I must say that considering the breaks we've taken and sometimes my son's lack of effort he can apply to piano, he has progressed quite well and thoroughly enjoys it. Andrei is very patient and firm when necessary and we would highly recommend him or his lovely wife to provide lessons to both children and adults alike! Thanks so much Andrei! We look forward to what the future will bring!

I strongly recommend any new student to Ms. Svetlana. State of the art studio in a convenient location, opportunity to practice on Grand Piano makes a big difference and motivates students to excel.

If you are looking for some music exposure for your children then look no further! Teachers at CA Academy of Music will take your musical talents to the next level. The most professional and experienced both musicians and music teachers I ever met! I personally had a great experience with one of the CA Academy of Music teachers since 1998!

Svetlana has been teaching both my kids how to play piano for two years. I am very happy to have found such a knowledgeable and passionate piano teacher!!! Her teaching style is a perfect combination of being strict but kind, insistent but gentle, serious but light. Her Individually tailored interactions with kids are amazing. Both she and her husband always go an extra mile for their students. Every music student deserves a wonderful teacher like her.

I Am 71 years old. This year, I decided that I want to learn how to play the piano. I have piano lessons with Svetlana. She has been my teacher since March, and because of her, I have learned a new skill. Svetlana taught me the basics. I'm glad that she doesn't teach me in the same way as she teaches her other students because I like learning whole songs instead of only a few repetitive bars. She works with my skill level and my preferences. Thanks to Svetlana, I can play "Santa Lucia" and "Clementine". I am looking forward to learning more good songs with her.
Mrs. Lee, piano student.

I have had music lessons in Mississauga with several different instructors over the last decade. Most teachers either know their instrument but don’t know how to teach, or know how to teach but are not proficient at the instrument they’re trying to teach, while some know neither! Svetlana is one of those rare instructors who is both a talented player and a talented teacher. She has a superb breadth and depth of knowledge on music whether it be musical theory, technique, or the way to evoke an emotional response in one’s playing. At the same time, she knows how to convey complex ideas, how to tailor her teaching to different learning styles, and when to be patient and when to push her students to get the best out of them. I would not hesitate for a second in recommending Svetlana to anyone considering music lessons in Mississauga!
Adam laughton, piano student.

Andrei Panasevich made me love music. I have been playing piano for nine years, but only genuinely enjoyed it for the last five years that I have been taught by Andrei. Oh, it was frustrating at first. He kept challenging me to play pieces ahead of my current RCM level. However, that “push” was just what I needed. When I hit a wrong note, Andrei is able, just by listening, to know where it is and what note it should be. He is always quick to encourage me when I am having trouble. Andrei tells me stories about the music so vivid, that he paints mental pictures of how the songs should make me feel when I play them. Once he told me a two-minute epic tale on why a piece of music should sound like “falling tear drops”. He helps bring my music to life. Andrei began teaching piano almost immediately after immigration to Canada. His students have grown to love him as their teacher, willingly performing at the many recitals he arranges. His day job is teaching music and other classes to international students. He also plays piano and trombone for his church. Andrei is an AMAZING teacher!
Angela Krone,
CA Academy of music piano student.

Svetlana is a great piano teacher! Somehow she was able to find the way to teach my two very different kids according to their each individual personalities. She is very dedicated and resourceful. I highly recommend her for any level of piano.
Emily Smith
Mom of piano students.

My kids, Josiah and Andrew, have been taking piano lessons with Andrei for over a year now, and they have loved being taught by him. Andrei is a talented musician, but he is also a great teacher. He encourages students to keep working on their skills even if they think a movement is too difficult. He also uses different strategies for different age/skill levels, which is something I appreciate. My sons have not been taking piano lessons for very long, but they have already moved up three levels, which is a testament to Andrei's excellent teaching.
Esther Kim,
Mom of Josiah and Andrew, piano students.

My daughter is already 3 years in CA Academy of Music. Her teacher name is Svetlana. She is an extremely talented musician and pianist with very effective teaching methods. Based on my daughter musical background and experience, she was able to adjust the lessons to the level of instruction that was necessary to meet her goals. She is not only working on technique, but also theory, musicality, effective practicing, and building repertoire. Her teaching method is thorough and instructive, which helps build a solid foundation for kids to develop their interests and skills in playing piano. My daughter recently finished her Royal Conservatory of Music Advanced Theory Exam with 97% First Class Honours with Distinction. I highly recommend Svetlana to any level piano student.
Evicka Mancini
Mom of Josephine Paul, piano student.
As an adult piano student, I've had several teachers over the years -- but Svetlana has been the best. She is patient, friendly, and ensures that I feel comfortable during the lesson. While she understands that, as a student, I will make mistakes, she also doesn't shy away from identifying areas where I can realistically improve and honing in on them. She uses helpful analogies to help me better comprehend the composer's intent behind a specific song, or sections of a song. During her piano lessons, there is a useful balance between songs, techniques (scales and exercises), and theory. She encourages students to study what they are interested in -- whether it's following the RCM curriculum, classical, religious, or jazz. It's been a rewarding experience.
Yusuf Saadi, piano student.

Learning An Instrument Can Give Your Brain A Boost
Learning a musical instrument is not only fun, relaxing, and aesthetically saisfying – it can also provide a boost to your (or your child’s) brain! Studies performed in the field of neuroscience on the effects of musical training on the brain demonstrate that learning a musical instrument can greatly improve one’s mental ability. Musicians’ brains tend to be larger and more well connected than their non-musician counterparts. These structural differences give the musician an edge when it comes to “verbal memory, spatial reasoning, and literacy skills”.
Musical training for children in particular can lead to long term cognitive gains. One study by White-Schwoch et al. showed that older adults who took part in as little as three years of musical training as children were able to process speech better than adults who never had any formal musical training.
Another study conducted by the German Institute For EconomicResearch shows that children who have musical
training “have better cognitive skills and school grades and are more conscientious, open and ambitious.” While musical training can provide a big boost to the adult and child’s brain, it takes more than just listening to music to achieve that effect! The so-called “Mozart effect” - the theory that merely listening to classical music can make you smarter – has been debunked. The brain boosting effects of music can only be had through the challenging but pleasant process that is learning an instrument.
